The Dark Hedges
The Dark Hedges
One of Northern Ireland’s most iconic and atmospheric landscapes, The Dark Hedges has become recognised around the world through its appearance in Game of Thrones. Painted here with dramatic light and rich shadow, this piece captures the feeling of standing beneath the ancient beech trees as they stretch and twist overhead, creating their famous natural tunnel.
For me, this place holds an even deeper meaning. Long before it became a destination for visitors and fans, I stood quietly at the side of this very road while filming took place during Season 2 of Game of Thrones, working behind the scenes in my career in television and film hair and make-up. Returning to paint it now feels like coming full circle — revisiting a place not only as an artist, but with memories of creativity, collaboration and a moment in time that became part of television history.
